Date:  Saturday, March 8th to Saturday, April 26th 

Time: 5:00pm to 7:00pm 

Class show on Saturday, May 6th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Experience the fun and freedom of duo improv – it allows for nimble play, character-driven discovery, and the potential to expand your range as an improviser. (Besides, it's way easier to schedule a rehearsal for two!) 

In this 8-week class, long form improv duo Power Sauce (Stephen Gillikin & Wendy Natividad) will create a welcoming and supportive learning environment where you'll foster a strong connection with your duo partner, build your larger ensemble and theatrical skills, apply those skills back to your duo, and refine your unique comedic voice along the way to perform seamless and confident long form improv.

You do not need a duo partner to enroll in this class. Everyone will be paired in different combinations over the 8 weeks to exercise their improv skills through various duo partner dynamics.

Each improviser will explore key elements such as…

  • Making strong physical, vocal, and emotional choices

  • Exchanging who is playing which character

  • Creating compelling stage pictures

  • Playing multiple characters

  • Grounding scenes

Minimum 1 year of general improv experience recommended. No prior experience or duo partner required. This workshop will culminate in a live class show featuring you and your fellow improvisers for all of your friends, family, and invited guests to enjoy.

Bio:  As a duo both on- and off-stage, Power Sauce (Stephen Gillikin & Wendy Natividad) regales audiences with novel yet timeless tales by serving up some good ol’ fashioned long form improv. They have performed and produced shows all around Los Angeles and have been in festivals in New York and The Philippines.

Stephen is an actor, writer, and teaching artist based in Los Angeles. He is the founder of Community Improv, which provides accessible and affordable improvisation practice for adults locally and across the world. He also holds faculty positions at The Fountain Theatre, working with high school playwrights in Compton, and with P.S. ARTS, working with elementary and middle school students across the LA area. As a screen actor, Stephen has worked in television and indie film, ranging from network shows like Criminal Minds to smaller independent titles. 

Wendy is a creative laborer based in Long Beach. She has been a member of numerous online- and LA-based improv teams; has produced live improv and variety shows across LA; and has taught improv workshops for students of various experience levels and cultural backgrounds. Previously, Wendy served as Artistic Director and Inclusivity Board Member at The Pack Theater where she oversaw the implementation of theater's artistic vision to cultivate unapologetic, bold, and fearless programming that reflects the independent and diverse voices of comedy in Los Angeles.
