The Pillowman: Stage Reading

Come join us for an afternoon read through of Martin McDonagh’s dark play “The Pillowman”. Set in an un-named totalitarian state, a writer is kidnapped by the police and interrogated. We discover he is being questioned about a series of horrific crimes committed in the town he lives in..crimes that bare a similarity to the stories he writes. A dark comedy in the darkest sense, youll laugh at things you know you shouldnt..and probably at things you never thought you would. A powerful tale about the power of storytelling, the Artists' desire to create, abuse of power and control of the media..not that we are into themes. Or have a specific theme going on here. But in an oblique way, maybe it does have those themes.

The goal of this reading is to have our voices heard by a live audience, to get feedback, as well as give our audience the chance to hear a story they'll never forget. We would like to one day perform this as a full production outside of los angeles, and we greatly appreciate your attendance and witnessing this process! No charge, as this is a public reading of something we are workshopping. Yet if you liked what you heard, please contribute to our cause with a donation!
