Brown's 3-4
Apr

3:30 PM15:30

Brown's 3-4

In early 2015, a group of Facebook friends descended upon a young muscle-bound classmate for sending pictures of his abs to girls asking them if they "liked his beef." Vicious insults and salacious taunts made up the majority of the ensuing debate, with even the primary instigators losing sight of the reason for their outrage in favor of pure, righteous indignation. Such is the nature of human interaction on Facebook, and so it goes here in the extremely depraved and savagely funny playing out of said argument live on-stage in "Brown's 3-4." Battle lines are drawn, re-drawn, tripped over and screamed at in this new take on verbatim-theatre that will have the audience asking, along with the performers, "Who really are to judge?"

Ian is Alone

Pills, pickles, corn, weed, tequila, wooden pens, lathes, music and a treadmill.

Welcome to the madness that is Ian Bratschie.

A mix of complete absurdity, total stupidity, absolute ridiculousness and full on clinical depression. Watch as Ian tries to convince us that everything is okay. Can he hold it all together? No, he can not. But he'll be using music, woodworking, heartfelt monologues, dance, and ridiculous physical comedy to try.

You've seen Ian on Modern Family. You've seen him on Chicago PD and Fire. You've seen him on Criminal Minds. Scool of Rock. Ray Donovan. Mob Doctor. (Yes that was a real show) But have you ever seen him alone? No, you have not.

Directed by Philip Burgers creator of the award winning Dr. Brown and director of Natalie Palamides award winning show Laid. Also directed by Second City Chicago's, Cassie Ahiers.

Back in the Closet

Opening Weekend Premier

US Figure Skating champion turned L.A. comedian Roman Fraden invites you to take a cosmic journey "Back In The Closet" - his uproarious personal odyssey through motel rooms with Tonya Harding, catastrophic Grindr hookups, and the deeply upsetting story behind why Sting once called him “the pussy of a plant”.

The child of emotionally blocked Russian immigrants, Roman has transformed thousands of hours of grueling skate practice plus a useless psych degree into a penetrating master takedown of modern life, with a mind-warping fusion of pop culture insight and outrageous physical comedy. Using live music, elaborate stagecraft, and incredibly personal stand-up, Roman delivers a powerful evening of laughs and self-discovery.

After extensive touring throughout the United States, Roman will be taking “Back in the Closet” to Edinburgh Fringe, delivering his uniquely psychedelic comedy in a 28 night run at Gilded Balloon. He is a regular performer at classic Los Angeles venues like The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, and The Hollywood Improv, and has trained and performed with Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theater. His other interests include judging cats.

A Comedian, an Author, and an Artist Walk into Lyric Hyperion

In what's being called the most anticipated night of edu-tainment in Los Angeles metro area history, a trio of bright minds (Sara Benincasa, Morley and Adrian Todd Zuniga) are coming together to celebrate the launch of Zuniga's debut novel, Collision Theory. There will be stand-up, a three-minute reading, and a brief video presentation. THEN SHIT WILL GET REAL, as the three will engage in a fun-time, three-way interview on the topics of writing, creativity, artistic struggles, breaking through, and all things in between. Then the fun really begins: if you buy a book of one of the presenters, you'll be handed a $10 bill (hopefully crisp, but that's TBD). Come one, come all. This will honestly be refreshing, weird fun and you will fall in love with at least one of the authors present.

Tickets $10: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-comedian-an-author-and-an-artist-walk-into-lyric-hyperion-tickets-44533856965

Sara Benincasa is a screenwriter, recovering stand-up comedian and the author of Real Artists Have Day Jobs (William Morrow 2016); DC Trip (Adaptive 2015); Great (HarperTeen 2014); and Agorafabulous!: Dispatches From My Bedroom (William Morrow 2012). She also wrote a very silly joke book called Tim Kaine Is Your Nice Dad. In 2017, she adapted "DC Trip" as a screenplay with Bona Fide, Gunpowder & Sky, and Adaptive Studios. She also adapted Agorafabulous as a pilot for TV with Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody. Recent roles include Corporate on Comedy Central (2018), The Jim Gaffigan Show on TVLand (2016) and the critically acclaimed short film The Focus Group (2016), which she also wrote. She lives in Los Angeles.sarabenincasa.com

Morley is a Los Angeles-based street artist whose work has been featured in The Los Angeles Times, The Huffington Post, LA Magazine and on television networks such as ABC, CBS, Comedy Central, The Discovery Channel, Ovation, Amazon and Showtime. He's toured the country with his book If You're Reading This, There's Still Time (published by Cameron + Company), exhibited in galleries around the world and lectured at numerous universities, LACMA and The Artisphere in Washington DC. He was the focus of a national commercial for Toyota as well as an original docu-series from Verizon. He has designed advertising campaigns for Smirnoff Vodka, Bud Light, The Los Angeles Children’s Hospital and the anti-smoking campaign Truth. iammorley.com

Adrian Todd Zuniga is the author of the debut novel, Collision Theory (Rare Bird Books, 2018). He’s the host/creator/CCO of Literary Death Match (now featured in over 60 cities worldwide) and host of LDM Book Report on YouTube. A WGA Award-nominated screenwriter, he co-wrote Madden NFL 18’s interactive movie Longshot (EA Sports). He made his bio shorter than the other two people participating to show off how humble he is, in the hopes that you’d buy his novel, since it would mean the world to him. He lives between London and Los Angeles. @atzuniga

Baby Goes to Factory: The Musical

With the death of his father and a mother in hysterics, all this baby's gotta do to survive is become a man--overnight.

Backed by the musical stylings of local gypsy jazz legends Duk, Bill O'Neill has crafted a one man musical dripping with laughter, tears and all the choking in between. Come see what one Polish tourist referred to as "so sad", as this fool crawls through the trenches in only a diaper.

And your favorite salty band of sailors--those crustaceous crooners--Albacore club opens the night, bringing you such nautical hits

as "Lobster Libation" and "Just for the Halibut".

Come on in, the water's fine.

After years of studying, performing, and writing a wide range of music separate of one another, Los Angeles-native twin brothers Jack and Benny Lipson united to birth the project jackbenny, which injects musical theater storytelling into the gamut of artistic styles they continue to explore. The duo shared their debut show in 2016 with musician-comedian Reggie Watts, and have since played sold-out concerts in Los Angeles, New York, Sheridan, Wyoming, where they presented their “musicalette,” Miranda, Please! through the Wyoming Theater Festival, and even in Falam, Myanmar at the Chin Cultural Festival. Last November, Lifetime commissioned Jack and Benny to arrange Burton Lane and Ralph Freed’s “How About You,” featured in the holiday special Snowed Inn Christmas with Bethany Joy Lenz. The Lipsons are teaming with director Justin Ross to develop a 3-character musical theater song cycle of their original songs that they plan to produce later this year. jackbenny performs once a month at the Lyric Hyperion Theater in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.

Lizzy Cooperman: Live Album Recording

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lizzy-cooperman-live-album-recording-tickets-44111390356

Lizzy Cooperman records her first official comedy album! Guaranteed slithering or your money back. Oh wait it's FREE! Really? Yes, free. And to really kick it into third (we're driving a stick now) the evening will be hosted by the one and only Karen Kilgariff (Talk Show the Game Show, My Favorite Murder & more)!

Lizzy's one of TimeOut LA's Comedians to Watch in 2018 and has been described by the Portland Mercury as "...a witchy Lady. In her act, she writhes around the stage like a crazy combination of Sarah Jessica Parker in Hocus Pocus and Norma Desmond." And the LA Times wrote, "At times, laughter nearly drowned out her keyboard. No drink minimum necessary, Cooperman killed."What more do you need to know? The writing's on the receipt that's taped to the keyboard. So come!
